Position Summary
Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time, but generally, your primary responsibilities will include tasks commonly performed by an attorney, including, without limitation, performing legal research, drafting legal documents (opinions letters, corporate guidance and advice, motions, pleadings, discovery, etc.
), making court appearances, attending client meetings, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Advising and representing clients in courts, before government agencies, or in arbitration
Holding meetings with clients in order to discuss details and status of a case
Conducting legal research and analysis of legal issues
Analyzing the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents and applying such knowledge to various factual scenarios
Interpreting laws and rulings for clients
Drafting briefs and other legal writings, including pleadings, motions, and discovery on behalf of clients
Presenting facts in writing or verbally to clients and arguing on their behalf in court, arbitration and mediation
Conducting and defending party, percipient and expert depositions
Overseeing paralegal and law clerk staff
Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Graduate of an accredited institution by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a Juris Doctor (J.
D.
); A specialization in corporate law or any related field and a serious interest in Civil Litigation required
Licensed to practice law in the state of CA required
Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience
Demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record of proven settlement skills
Knowledge of business and real estate lawsuit matters
Proficient in MS Office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
Proficient in internet and online research
Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, scanner, and computer
Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Excellent organizational skills with an eye for details
Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it
Ability to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to represent the company in various forums to foster the desires and image of the company in the community
