The System Engineer directs, and coordinates activities related to the management, operation, acquisition, installation and maintenance of internal and external communications & information technology systems, networks, fire systems, telephone systems, internet services and related equipment for the Dealership(s).
This position is responsible for the software & network development, installation, management, and support for computing systems by continually determining the Companies computing and network information management needs.
The Systems Engineer determines the hardware essential to support an organization’s software and computing functions.
The system Engineer is also technically knowledgeable of all required Federal, State & Industry Database safeguards and implements required safeguards and reporting.
Essential Duties
Oversees the set up & operation of the dealership-wide computer system(s) and related peripherals.
Establishes/monitors and maintains the dealership network environment, directories, and security.
Maintains backup of all files, security, and rights.
Manages the Companies customer information technology network(s) [DMS] and infrastructure, along with end-user systems & peripherals to ensure continual active & proper services to the Dealership(s)
Oversees the administration and update of the dealership website.
Speaking to and collaborating with a variety of people, such as vendors, management, and information technology (IT) staff during the creation and maintenance of a system
Creates control features to ensure systems effectively meet the organization’s quality standards
Engaging in quality control procedures to ensure that systems are efficient, secure and operational
Applies knowledge in the maintenance and operation of computer hardware, operating systems and related software applications.
Interacts with Internet providers to maintain constant services to the Dealership(s)
Work to improve the stability and security of the company cloud and on-premises networks
Ensures that the Dealership(s) infrastructure, software’s & network(s) are updated on a monthly basis
Ensures effective utilization of dealership systems by studying user requirements.
Instructs staff in use of the dealership and manufacturer computer systems.
Lead and manage a team of programmers and IT support staff
Train employees on data security, troubleshooting processes and related skills
Oversee the creation, installation and support for computing systems
Manage projects and meet deliverables according to a set timeline
Researches and purchases all computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, as directed.
Coordinates equipment installation and maintenance activities with appropriate department managers to avoid disruption in communications and ensures efficiency of operations.
Designs, develops, and updates computer generated forms, manuals management reports and other items as requested.
Manages & maintains network(s); maintains current documentation related to all switches, and devices.
Have a strategic mindset that is used to balance all of the variables involved with running a computer networking system; ability to think logically and methodically to identify the best possible solution based on resources and needs.
Maintain learning about technology, staying up-to-date on best practices in the industry and implement cutting-edge tech tools for the dealerships
Manages user e-mails & e-mail system.
Manages other third-party users of the Companies DMS to a maintain high level intrusion protections on network and end user devise, in order to present any phishing or unauthorized access to any Dealership(s) network and/or devices.
Communicates any IT or equipment related issue to Dealership management immediately.
Monitors all network and related equipment to provide recommendations for replacement and/or repair.
Recommends potential cost savings for any hardware and or devices used by the Dealership.
