Everyone has what they call a "recording studio" these days.
That’s no big deal except that most are not really a studio as I’m sure you’ve found out.
But a studio is only a tool.
What you need, to be able to make your music great, is the right people, that know how to produce / record / mix other people’s (your) music.
When you want your music to be pro, you need to hire a pro, not just someone with a "studio".

That’s a much bigger question and will get you the answer you really are looking for.
I am a pro and have a verifiable discography and gold and platinum records.
AND I have a killer studio.
The most important factor wherever you record (or anything else) is the people you work with.
Do you research and don't just believe what they say in their ad or on their website.
My engineering rates start at $50 / hour for new clients only,
1 three hour session only, including engineer, working in my studio in Northridge.
After that: $60 / hour including engineer
Day rate: $550 for 10 hours.
Mixing: starts at $200 per track.
That rate is for very specific types of recordings.
