Mission Community Hospital, a 145-bed acute care facility located in the San Fernando Valley, is currently searching for four Per-Diem, Variable Shift, Circulating RN positions for the Surgery Unit.
Job Summary
Perioperative registered nurses provide surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing the nursing care patients receive before, during and after surgery.
These activities include patient assessment, creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment, pre- and post-operative patient education, monitoring the patient’s physical and emotional well-being, and integrating and coordinating patient care throughout the surgical care continuum.
The Circulating nurse works outside the sterile field.
Responsible for managing the nursing care within the O.
R.
by observing the surgical team from a broad perspective and assisting the team in creating and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment.
This position will be primarily working with a critically ill through rehabilitating adolescent to geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served.
SERVICE PERFORMANCE
Maintains a correct sponge, needle and instrument count throughout the procedure.
Demonstrate ability to identify and prioritize patient care problems and determine nursing interventions.
Demonstrate ability to accurately document procedure that patient receives and any other observations made.
Communicates pertinent data or change in patient’s condition in a timely manner.
Demonstrate proficiency in implementing physician’s orders without error and clarify orders as needed.
Utilizes policy and procedure manuals to deliver care in an appropriate, efficient and respectful manner.
Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory findings pertinent to the care of patients.
Demonstrate safe and effective use of the following equipment:
Ambu bag
Blood Glucose Monitor
Defibrillator
Fire Extinguisher
Hospital Beds
Oxygen Regulator (Wall/Tank)
Vital Signs Monitor
Weighing Scale
Demonstrates ability and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation during life threatening emergencies.
Demonstrates proficiency and complies in utilization of Hospital’s Infection Control standards both hospital-wide and department specific.
Demonstrates knowledge, assessment, reporting and documentation of signs/symptoms of abuse and neglect per hospital policy.
Demonstrate skills as a team leader, charge nurse, preceptor for new nursing personnel, students and or nursing registry personnel.
Remain current with nursing directives and communications.
Qualifications

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
CIRCULATING RN
Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of California.
Minimum of one-year acute nursing experience preferred.
Certification as CNOR preferred.
BSN preferred.
Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia course - Preferred
BLS
ACLS
