*Position Summary:*
Under the supervision of the Program Director the Primary Therapist is responsible for guiding clients and families through the treatment experience.
The Primary Therapists meets with clients regularly to provide individual and/or family counseling sessions appropriate to client’s level of care.
The Primary Therapist conducts ongoing assessments of client’s progress, documents in a timely and effective manner, and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team.
*Duties and Responsibilities:* * Continual monitoring of client safety and safety planning.
* Completes all clinical documentation in accordance and compliance with ROWI and Joint Commission standards.
* Communicates critical safety information to the treatment team.
* Conducts individual and/or family therapy sessions in compliance with appropriate level of care.
* Contacts referral source and outpatient professionals within 72 hours of admission and gives progress updates as needed.
* Collaborates with Family Therapists in the discharge planning process.
* Facilitates group therapy including alumni group and multi-family group.
* Supports Program Director in facilitating and maintaining a robust alumni group and community connection.
* Full participation and contribution to the multidisciplinary treatment team.
* Fully reviews all incoming clinical material including psych testing reports, assessments, hospital discharge summaries, or other relative clinical documentation prior to first individual session.
* Coordinates transition and discharge planning with the clinical team.
* Serves as a role model to treatment staff, clients, employees, and guests through a positive, caring, and professional attitude.
* Conducts Utilization Reviews.
* Maintains the confidential nature of clients and related activities.
* Complies with the dress code.
* Completes tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
* Attends designated staff and in-service meetings.
* Any additional duties as assigned by the management team.
*Other Related Skills and Abilities:* * Engage in appropriate written and verbal communication with families, referral sources and other professionals.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to write reports or articles.

*Basic Education and Experience Required:* * Minimum of a Master’s Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology or Social Work.
* The Primary Therapist will be licensed or license eligible as an MFT, registered intern, Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker.
_Unlicensed clinicians will work with a licensed supervisor.
_ * Minimum of 2-5 years of related field experience preferred.
*Knowledge/Competencies:* * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Must work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
* Ability to set priorities and handle multiple assignments.
* Ability to handle and maintain confidential client information.
* Ability to maintain clear boundaries with clients and staff.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
* Willing to work beyond normal working hours, weekends, holidays, and/or on other shifts in other positions, when necessary.
* Must be knowledgeable of behavioral health industry practices and procedures, and/or terminology, laws, regulations, and guidelines.
* Must be able to communicate with people from all educational and cultural backgrounds.
* Must have strong written communication skills.
* Must cope constructively with stressful situations.
* Must demonstrate tact, initiative, resourcefulness, professional manner, enthusiasm, and non-judgemental attitude.
* Documents clearly and efficiently.
*Additional Requirements:* * Must have a valid driver’s license and eligibility for insurance with agency’s vehicles.
* Must have valid First-Aid & CPR Certifications and a criminal background check.
