Camp Clarita is a summer day camp program that that serves children ages 3-12 at multiple locations and runs from June 10 – August 9, 2024, with staff training beginning on June 3.
Staff will serve as positive role models and make a difference in the youth of Santa Clarita as they lead them in sports, crafts, games, field trips, swimming, and more! THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: • Enjoys having fun and being outdoors • Has a professional demeanor, friendly personality, and a positive attitude • Is responsible, dependable, and serves as a positive role model for youth and staff • Has strong leadership skills to lead both campers and staff • Possesses excellent customer service skills and is proactive in solving problems • Has the ability to multitask and work under pressure • Has the ability to be flexible and work in an evolving environment • Follows and enforces City policies as they relate to the health, behavior, and safety of others Education and Experience Camp Assistant Director – $17.

05 per hour Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and Camp Director, this position will work directly with the Camp Clarita program to facilitate youth programming.
This position may work up to 40 hours per week during the summer months; Monday-Friday shifts varying from 6:45 a.
m.
to 6:15 p.

BASED ON ASSIGNMENTS, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: • Supervising and leading children; maintaining staff/child ratio • Assisting in the organization, set-up, and clean-up of facility; opening or closing facility • Organizing, prioritizing, and following-up on assignments • Greeting patrons and participants and answering inquiries regarding programs • Effectively communicating with parents, participants, and staff • Ensuring the physical and emotional needs of campers are met • Addressing issues and concerns with campers as they arise • Recognizing and addressing behavioral concerns • Maintaining various forms, logs, and reports; tracking inventory and organizing supplies • Following and enforcing City policies as they relate to the health, behavior, and safety of others • Organizing, planning, and working with other program areas, as requested; communicating with other City Divisions and departments • Attending meetings and assisting with leading Recreation Leader I’s, and Camp Counselors • Tracking program participation • Performing first aid, administering medication, and responding to emergencies; reporting incidents and accidents • Acting as the site director in their absence • Other duties, as directed by Recreation Supervisor, Coordinator, and/or Camp Director EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or GED equivalent • At least one year of paid experience in recreation, education, or youth program setting • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver license • Possession of, or ability to obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification by June 7, 2024 (A Red Cross CPR/AED/FA course will be offered during paid Staff Training) • Leadership experience and completion of at least one year of college courses is highly desirable - Camp Director – $20.
