JOB
Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, Coordinator, Specialist, and Office Assistant this position will work directly with the Adult Sports Recreation Programs to provide residents of the Santa Clarita Valley with a variety of quality recreational programs and events in a safe and fun environment.
This position may work an average of 20 hours per week primarily on weeknights between the hours of 4:00 p.
m.
– 10:00 p.
m.
and Sundays between the hours of 7:00 a.
m.
– 9:00 p.
m.
however, hours vary based on the needs of the program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Actively engages in the coordination of programs, leagues, and events
• Leads the operations, set-up, and clean-up of sports facilities and programs
• Leads staff to effectively provide quality recreation programs
• Provides customer service to program participants and the general public, including responding to public inquiries, supplying accurate information, and fulfilling customer needs over the phone, through e-mail, and on-site
• Assists in maintaining updated notebooks and/or files
• Responsible for the inventory and organization of supplies and equipment bags for staff, coaches, and team managers
• Utilize registration software to processes registrations and produce membership cards
• Responsible for money-handling, including payments, close out procedures, and refunds
• Operates City vehicles and equipment
• Opens and closes facilities
• Responds to emergencies as needed
• Reports incidents and accidents to appropriate staff
• Attends meetings and training sessions as required
• Other activities as directed
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license required
• At least two years paid or volunteer experience working in recreation, customer service, clerical support, sports programming or other related setting

As a City of Santa Clarita public employee, you may be called upon to work as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) in the event of an emergency (in accordance with Government Code §§ 3100-3109).
Before entering upon the duties of employment, all public employees, except those excluded by law, take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation set forth in the California Constitution, declaring them to be Disaster Service Workers in time of need.
In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program.
This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.
PTS workers are at-will.
Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 1,000 hours.
