The Sr.
Director Finance, Diabetes and Operations will report directly to the Diabetes CFO.
This key leader oversees the matrix partnership between Diabetes OU and GOSC and acts as a key strategic advisor to the Diabetes VP Operations and works closely with the GSOC finance team and functional leaders.
This leader will sit on both the Diabetes Finance and Operations Leadership Teams and will participate in developing and executing the strategic plan and associated imperatives to drive and sustain gross margin improvements.
The ideal candidate will possess broad-minded business acumen to provide strategic and transformational leadership to impact the business beyond the finance function.
He/she must be able to effectively lead and represent the business as needed and engage other leaders to achieve strategic and financial goals.
The Director of Finance will be responsible for leading the annual strategic and operating planning processes and for directing the control of financial plans and forecasts for the gross margin.
Partner with Diabetes VP Operations to achieve strategic and financial goals of the Diabetes.
Identify key drivers of margin improvement and effectively forecast.
Partner with VP/Director in GOSC Finance team to develop a mechanism to create capacity plans for key product lines.
Create actionable plans to address inventory goals for Diabetes OU.
You will be required to work on-site at our Northridge, California location three (3) days per week.
This on-site presence is crucial to fostering collaboration and maintaining a strong connection with our team and the workplace environment.
Your direct manager will be your point of contact to help you navigate and ensure a seamless integration into our workplace culture.
Your manager will be available to connect.

A Day in the Life: Serves as the key business partner to the VP Diabetes Operations, VP/CFO GOSC and partner closely with the GOSC Finance Director for Diabetes Collaborates with the Diabetes Finance teams to provide the right level of business partnership to the GOSC and Diabetes Business Unit.
Communicates operating priorities, outlooks and results with various stakeholders.
Aligns financial policies and procedures with company objectives.
Accountable for final operational decisions affecting business activities.
Business Partnership role in making investment prioritization trade-off decisions with headcount, capital, supply chain and acquisition opportunities.
Manages the activities of the financial analysis staff, developing insightful business analytics that drive business growth, operational efficiency, and effective working capital, FCF, and ROIC management.
Leads a team that may support other functions in addition to operations.
Determines talent strategies, develops management team.
Supports talent management initiatives within the broader finance team.
Contributes to building a pipeline of talent for future leadership roles.
Provides leadership in driving business unit and department adherence to approved budgets.
Balances financial perspective with other business function perspectives.
Ensures the business quality policy/system is planned, understood, implemented and maintained in the business.
Participates in periodic management reviews of the quality system to ensure overall compliance as well as that appropriate resources are available to effectively maintain the business’ quality system (people, facilities, tools, and training).
Partners with VP Ops, Diabetes to develop capacity plans for key product lines.
Develops and executes strategy that ensures continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
Facilitates the development of plans to deliver 5% of more cost down annually.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Manufacturing Finance or related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in strategic planning, operations management, process improvement, and/or transformational leadership, 10+ years of managerial experience OR an advanced degree with 13 years of experience with 10+ years of managerial experience Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications): Cost accounting experience MBA Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to “tell the story” in a relevant and succinct manner Strong collaboration, working in a matrix, and business partnership skills.
Working knowledge of accounting principles and regulations and financial analysis techniques Experience leading lead people and achieving results through others.
Experience and success working with others across in a matrix environment ie.
Finance function, business unit, Global Operations and Supply Chain COEs and Enterprise partners.
Experience consolidating financial results in a complex, matrixed multi-currency environment.
Working knowledge and understanding of Medtronic worldwide policies and procedures Strong customer orientation Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level Strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus Extensive experience in a business unit area Experience interacting with the Executive Committee Broad mindset keeping the goals of the business unit (Diabetes) and enterprise (Medtronic) mind in decision making and approach.
