The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget.
Candidates are paid at the minimum of the salary range or no higher than the first quartile of the salary range.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises workers engaged in providing burial services and maintaining cemetery grounds and equipment.
The site of the cemetery and the number of employees supervised determines whether the position is a Supervisor I or Supervisor II.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
Supervises overall cemetery grounds operations; assigns personnel to jobs.
Lays out graves/crypts for opening; inspects for accuracy of location and proper depth and container; verifies attractiveness and safety of grave setup.
Maintains accurate records of equipment and sprinkler system maintenance and repair
Reviews and resolves problems and complaints pertaining to grounds personnel.
Enforces safety rules and regulations; daily review of security of buildings, equipment and supplies.
Instructs all grounds personnel in cemetery procedures and policies; maintains accurate records of issued boots and garments.
Maintains accurate records and reports of inventories of all supplies and submits them to management monthly.
Assigns work in order of priority; assists families, priests and funeral directors as required.
Receives all deliveries and verifies accuracy of amounts; receives all permits required from outside vendors issued by the cemetery office.
Schedules mowing, sweeping and trimming operation, as well as seasonal pruning, landscaping and repairs in advance.
Evaluates the need for equipment replacement and repairs, and submits recommendations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community.
Five years in all phases of cemeteries grounds operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
Coursework to include basic horticultural maintenance, mechanics, and personnel relations.
Seminars, workshops and courses in lawn maintenance, equipment maintenance and supervision and personnel management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Basic English language usage.
Laws and application of training in procedures and safety practices relative to interments/entombments and disinterments/disentombments.
Personnel management.
Lawn, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
Interment procedures.
Skill in:
Interpersonal relations.
Training, coaching and directing the work of others.
Maintaining positive public relations with patrons, funeral directors, priests, and vendors.
Safe and efficient use of required machinery and equipment.
Settling problems or complaints.
Performing tasks efficiently and economically.
Ability to:
Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Plan and assign workload.
Train, assign and delegate authority, as needed.
Handle unexpected problems.
Lift heavy objects and equipment's.
Lift objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted and be able to lift heavier objects with the aid of other grounds workers.
Handle grave set-ups, tins and sod carefully.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending stooping, and walking.
Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands and arms.
