Valencia Relationship Institute Assistant Clinical Director (ACD) works collaboratively with the Directors and the Practice Manager to create an uplifting environment of clinical excellence, overseeing and supporting the clinical and administrative team members.
The ACD will think globally and make decisions creatively and independently that promote innovation, standards of care, best practices, and the overall growth and development of Valencia Relationship Institute.
A critical key focus of this position is creating a joyful, supportive _infectious_ culture (and brand) that conveys a sense of stability, attracting Valencia Relationship Institute’s ideal clients and providers alike.
* The Assistant Clinical Director also maintains a clinical caseload of 14-16 clients per week.
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position requiring 40+ hours of work per week.
Prior experience in a private practice setting both as a clinician and in a supervisory or management role.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* * Maintain a client caseload of 14-16 clients per week, depending on other demands.
* Provide support to the Valencia Relationship Institute’s team of clinical providers (answer questions, provide clinical consultation to providers, provide clinical supervision to associates, provide ongoing feedback and emotional support, assist in attending to client risk/safety needs, address ethical/legal concerns, and attend to other needs as necessary.
* Knowledge of and ability to comply and stay up to date with the Board of Behavioral Sciences and related licensed and pre-licensed regulations.
* Monitor clinician caseloads and productivity, and address any issues including low client retention, frequent cancellations/no-shows.
* Flexibility in days and hours available for work, including weekends.
* Review written communication being sent from the practice - this includes, records requests, therapists’ letters, and any requested clinical documentation from past employed therapists.
* Communicate with any clients who have concerns, complaints, or questions about therapists or VRI policies and procedures in which the issue has been unable to be resolved with the provider or practice manager directly.
* Assist in the creation of clinical and administrative policies that support practice growth and excellence as well as the communication of said policies to the team, answering questions and adapting items as needed.
* Development and ongoing maintenance of a digital version of the VRI Operation Manual in collaboration with the Practice Manager.
* Management and Organization of Clinical Resources on Google Drive.
* Hiring and recruitment: Lead efforts to ensure the practice is staffed with qualified professionals.
Managing recruitment and employment ads with the administrative team, responses to candidates, conduct interviews, check references, send offer or rejection emails etc.
* New Therapist Onboarding + Professional Development: Oversee further development and maintenance of the Onboarding and Professional Development and Training Programs, assisting and overseeing the professional development and training of the clinical and administrative staff.
Continually assess the ongoing professional development and training needs of the team and develop, coordinate, or acquire ongoing training as needed.
* Lead human resources tasks - Hold staff compassionately accountable to meeting quality of care, best practices, and performance expectations.
* Monitor and manage staff performance including Consultations and Performance Coaching.
Create Success and PIP plans and facilitate meetings to communicate these with employees, follow-up on monitoring ongoing progress/concerns with clinical staff who are on such plans and document these meetings, address, and resolve any complaints or concerns among staff of an HR or other nature, take lead role in any planning and delivery of termination of an employee and tasks necessary after such an event.
* Participating in weekly Leadership meetings - Provide support to the admin team, Practice Manager and the Directors in addressing any administrative concerns/questions and seek to enhance connection and communication between the clinical and administrative teams.
Contribute ideas and guidance for running the practice, facilitate resolution for any problems/concerns as they arise.
* In collaboration with the Team Building Coordinator- plan events, and lead these efforts (or delegate a leader), send out monthly team emails (or newsletter) of reminders/events and other culture building items.
Oversee that the Team Building Coordinator orders food and handles other needs for team lunches, sends out birthday reminder emails etc.
* Actively participate in the more formalized establishment of a ‘Community Outreach +Practice Development Team”.
This team will consist of the Directors, Practice Manager, Assistant Clinical Director, and Client Care Coordinator.
The purpose of this team is to determine how we market the practice and participate in the community in person and online.
* Take the primary lead of running the clinical aspects of the organization when the Directors are out of town or unavailable and train the Practice Manager to do the same (within their capacity) in your absence.
* Attend to any other needs, requests, projects, and provide general support to the practice, Practice Manager and Directors * Perform additional duties as assigned.
*Required Education and Experience: * ● Master's degree or higher in a mental health discipline required ● Licensed California Therapist with a current license issued by the Board of Behavioral Science.

, LCSW, LMFT, PSYD, PHD) ● At least five years of professional experience in mental health or human services.
● At least two years of related experience leading/supervising in a clinical management position.

* Independent decision making regarding the management of the clinical and leadership teams and direct reports.

* Adept at learning and navigating Electronic Health Record systems.
* Proficiency with “technology” and an ongoing interest in new skill development as applicable.
*Work Environment and Physical Requirements:* ● Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
● Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
