To be initial contact in all student services regarding financial aid for the law school.
Oversee the front counter traffic and phones, Guide prospective and current students regarding the financial aid process for JD, LLM, and Masters students.
Assist the Director as needed regarding financial aid timeline processes.
Duties Financial Assistance - Maintain all financial aid data on university mainframe computer (daily); Essential Process, review, and verify all incoming applications, federal tax returns, student aid reports and loan applications (daily); Counsel applicants/incoming/returning students on inquiries regarding general requirements, application and loan status ( phone, email or in-person; daily); Supervise daily clerical duties, including updating of financial aid data, filing, website and catalog updates (daily); Assist in ensuring compliance and consistency with all University State and Federal rules and regulations governing financial aid, as they constantly change (daily/weekly); Assign, award, audit and adjust: packaging variables, scholarships and loans as requested by Admissions (Weekly); Process award letters: financial aid, restricted and endowed scholarships; Serve as operational liaison with various University offices to ensure maximum effectiveness for the CSOL: AWP, Stewardship/Advancement, Student Employment FWS, Payroll (Weekly); Collaborate with Athletics to update athletic aid and maintain compliance.
Counsel grads individually on their loan indebtedness, loan repayment options, monthly payments and loan forgiveness programs (Monthly); Assist in completion of office projects, i.
e.
, federal reports, ABA reports and audits (Quarterly); Process Promissory Notes, as needed (Quarterly, Yearly) Manage and oversee all students, including visiting students with consortium agreements and financial aid funds received from other institutions on a daily basis.
Process private loans (Quarterly).
Attend trainings and conferences to update policies, maintain compliance, and operate efficiently (Quarterly).
Manage the Federal Work Study Program for all School of Law Students: educate students and interested employers on program policies, process hiring paperwork, and work closely with law firms throughout the hiring process and duration of employment (Weekly) Work closely with Office of Student Employment to ensure CSOL is following all University, State, and Federal guidelines (Daily) Perform FWS program audits to adjust funding if needed.
Scholarships - Oversee the Restricted and Endowed Scholarships through Academic Works Scholarship Platform (Weekly); Represent the CSOL at campus-wide scholarship and Stewardship meetings to make sure that CSOL is on track with fiscal budgeting and donor relations (Quarterly); Review 100% of donor thank you letters for scholarship reporting in the donor's annual report (Yearly); Update scholarship budget spreadsheets and work with Fiscal Manager, as needed.
Process outside organization scholarships.
Oversee the Caruso and Shafer Loan Forgiveness programs (LRAP); maintain close relationships with alumni (Yearly); Track and process applications, and oversee budget.
Online Programs- Oversee awarding processes, as needed by FA Advisor, assist with student inquiries, escalations, and COA appeals, exercise professional judgement.
Financial Literacy- administer MAX by Accesslex Program, schedule and conduct workshops in collaboration with AccessLex Institute Regional Director; actively engare students in programming through lunch events and scholarship incentives.
Continually research and share financial resources to reduce indebtedness.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications Required: Bachelors degree; two years of general office experience Superior interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; professional demeanor; ability to interact comfortably with high-level administrators, faculty, students, and applicants; ability to multi-task at a high level; able to perform under pressure of a high volume of task and traffic conditions; ability to use discretion when handling confidential/sensitive issues; strong attention to detail Microsoft Office 2010, PeopleSoft Preferred: Experience in Financial Aid or other student service area Prior experience with PeopleSoft Qualified individuals should be able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $66,560 - $68,000 The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting.
Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
