*Direct Counsel* is looking for a *temporary or a temporary to hire attorney* for a workers compensation practice.
The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the workers compensation case, including to, evaluating the merits of a workers compensation case, providing guidance and counsel to the clients through effective communication, medical review, and negotiating, settling and litigating cases, if necessary.
Must have at least 3 years' of experience in either defense or plaintiff's Workers Compensation work.
The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation and communication skills, a firm understanding of California workers compensation law, an ability to handle a large caseload, and effective leadership skills.
Duties:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Draft legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and briefs
- Represent clients in court proceedings
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
- Assist with legal administrative tasks, such as document management and filing
Skills:
- Strong legal drafting skills to prepare accurate and effective legal documents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and the court
- Litigation skills to represent clients in court proceedings
- Proficient in legal research methods and resources, such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
- Ability to conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and arguments
- Strong negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.
D.
) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
- Prior experience in a law firm or legal department
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to Workers Compensation law
