BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Theology teacher is a 10.
5 month, exempt position that reports to the Chair of the Theology Department, and the administrative team of Principal and Vice Principals.
There may be additional opportunities to teach during summer school.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate passion and expertise in the teaching of the Catholic faith, specifically Scripture, Morality and Church History.
Well-versed in multiple areas of the Catholic faith tradition and Holy Cross.
Proficient in technology use and willing to incorporate it into the classroom to engage learners.
Willingness to differentiate learning to reach a range of student learning styles.
Adapt lessons for students of various faith backgrounds.
Instruct 4-5 full-credit Theology classes each semester, assigned at the discretion of the Theology Department Chair.
Participate in school-wide and department meetings and professional growth opportunities.
Engage in the life of the school community through presence at school Masses, assemblies, rallies, class retreats, sporting events, visual and performing arts events, etc.
Chaperone and supervisory responsibilities during the school day and some evenings and weekends.
Meet with students and parents, as needed, during x period, before, and after school.
Write college letters of recommendation for students when appropriate.
Proficient in creating online classes and instructing students via ZOOM
QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree in Theology or a related field, Bachelor's minimum, Masters preferred.
Credential or Religious Studies Certification from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum.
Ability to relate to high school students, and build positive relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries.
Willingness to collaborate, problem-solve, and share best practices with colleagues.
High-level of familiarity and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives.
Familiarity and competence in technology skills, and desire to keep learning.
Must have excellent classroom management, communication, and organization skills.
