Under the supervision of the School Sites Manager; in collaboration with the School Site Coordinators; plans, implements, evaluates, and delivers exciting, engaging, and age appropriate STEM programs at 7 elementary school sites within the Newhall School District.

JOB FUNCTION:
1.
Maintain and develop consistent and comprehensive curriculum in STEM education.
2.
Plan, promote and execute technology/STEM activities; including STEMfinity; during afterschool and summer hours.
3.
Assists in the planning, implementing, supervision, and evaluation of programs that increase youth attendance and participation and incorporates youth development principles.
4.
Maintain and use Club technology resources on a daily basis.
5.
Participate in BGCA national programs and trainings (MyFuture, Career Launch, Digital Arts Festival, coding, etc.
) as necessary.
6.
Responsible for proper record keeping and reporting.
7.
Develop STEM-related science themes/camps.
8.
Create engaging STEM-focused local programs with the ability to multi-task several projects.
9.
Takes an active and energetic role in recruiting members for activities each day.
10.
Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment conducive to youth development.
11.
Providing guidance to Club members and enforce discipline.
12.
Maintain and care for applicable supplies and equipment.
13.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
*Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
* Strong organization & interpersonal skills.
*Active, approachable and available.
* Experience working with school age youth.
REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: *Bilingual – Spanish Preferred but not required.
* Reliable transportation *Provide proof of CPR and First Aid certification or receive certification training provided by organization.
* Background Check.
*Drug Test Clearance.
* Able to lift more than 20 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The STEM Coordinator must have a minimum of one year of experience.
That experience should cover a wide variety of youth development programs, including the development, implementation, and the supervision of those programs.
He/she must be flexible.
It is important that he/she knows and is able to demonstrate how to implement informal guidance.
