For more information about the University, visit: About the College: For more information about the College of Science and Math, see: About the Department: For more information about the Department of Biology, see: Position: The department of Biology at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking two tenure-track faculty members in Marine Biology/Ecology at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidates may teach courses in introductory biology and in the candidates’ specialty, which may include marine biology/ecology, experimental design and analysis, biometry, phycology, invertebrate zoology, analyses of big ecological data, marine conservation biology, and have research interests in organismic biology and population/community ecology with a strong emphasis on fieldwork in temperate or tropical locations.
Ability to conduct and lead research in marine habitats of southern California or coral reefs is preferred.
We are particularly interested in building strengths in quantitative ecology, conservation biology, and understanding the capacities of organisms and systems to respond to multiple stressors associated with climate change.
The successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to develop an externally funded research program that actively involves graduate and undergraduate students.
The undergraduate curriculum includes a capstone experience involving a semester-long residential program at Santa Catalina Island, and the successful candidates are expected to participate in this program.
In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university.
The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion.

Required Qualifications: Hold a Ph.
D.
in marine biology or a closely related field from an accredited institution College or University-level in-person or online teaching experience Postdoctoral experience Demonstrate potential to develop an externally-funded research program that actively involves graduate and undergraduate students Strong publication history in peer reviewed journals that include papers as a first author Ability to scientifically collaborate with national and/or international colleagues Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of effective engagement OR potential to engage with a diverse student body Experience using OR potential to use culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students Experience creating a student-centered learning environment Research/Lab experience that includes working with students from diverse backgrounds Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring Research experience in temperate or tropical marine ecosystems Research experience associated with effects of climate change on biological and/or ecological processes Ability to teach either an introductory biology or a specialized course in the biological sciences Application Deadline: Screening of applications will begin September 18th, 2023.
