What is a "transportation dispatcher"? It is a customer service representative in the transportation & logistics industry.
We deal with shipping companies and trucking companies for seamless movement of freight on 18-wheelers across the country.
This entails:
* Developing a proactive relationship with our customers by providing first-class customer service and communication
* Handling shipment quoting/pricing for customers
* Covering available shipments through strategic negotiations with trucking companies
* Sending and collecting documents to and from carriers
* Obtaining location updates for shipments in progress
* Data entry of various files and information into our software
* Providing problem-resolution effectively and a timely manner
Transportation Dispatcher qualifications/skills
* Comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking
* Fluent on the computer (typing, navigating various programs, etc)
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on E-mail, Excel, and Word
* Highly effective communication, both verbal and written (phone, email)
* Focused, attentive to detail, organized, and able to multi task without making mistakes
* Strong work ethic; looking to grow within the company
* Confident, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively in a team/group setting, as well as independently
