Northrop Grumman's Navigation, Targeting, & Survivability Division is seeking a motivated systems engineer at the Woodland Hills, CA location to support the development and production of inertial, radio, magnetic, and vision aided navigation systems.
A systems engineer in this business area is responsible for working with a broad customer base to identify unique requirements, flow the requirements into design documentation, and work with a diverse team to build and test those navigation systems.
The systems engineer is the technical lead and point of contact to the customer.
Expected duties include: Presenting to customers on the capabilities of current products, performance analyses, design information, and requirements verification methods.
Generating, reviewing, and managing multiple requirement sets that cover all aspects of both performance and non-performance including mechanical interfaces, electrical interfaces, data requirements, environmental requirements, and reliability.
Awareness and responsiveness to contract milestones and deliverables.
Leading a team of subsystem engineers and subject matter experts to ensure the designs are sufficient to meet the system requirements.
Working with integration and test engineers to ensure all requirements are verified through inspection, analysis, demonstration, or test often by providing test and data reduction scripts.
Providing test direction to ensure production tests and troubleshooting tests are executed correctly and resulting data conforms to requirements.
Analyzing performance information for navigation sensors against their error budget Generating control systems that integrate multiple navigation sensor data through kalman filters.
Develop software and embedded systems requirements.
Model the expected performance of navigation systems and their sensors utilizing covariance and monte carlo analysis.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Level or a Sr.
Principal Level.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer are: 5 years of engineering experience with a Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline; 3 years of engineering experience with Masters; 0 Years with a PhD Familiarity with developing, managing, and verifying requirements for embedded software and systems Demonstrated team leadership skills Ability to clearly communicate to team members, customers, and suppliers US Citizenship Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance Basic Qualifications for a Sr.
Principal Systems Engineer are: 9 years of engineering experience with a Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline; 7 years of engineering experience with Masters; 4 Years with a PhD Experience leading a team that is developing, managing, and verifying requirements for embedded software and systems Demonstrated team leadership skills Ability to clearly communicate to team members, customers, and suppliers US Citizenship Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance Preferred Qualifications: Strong data analysis skills using Matlab Familiarity with airworthiness software processes (DO-178, DO-330, DO-331, DO-254) Experience with Simulink models & MISRA CodeGen standards Agile project management experience leveraging Jira Strong requirement development and management skills using MBSE and DOORS Familiarity of electrical and communication interfaces standards (MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, Ethernet) Familiarity with inertial measurement sensors and systems Experience developing products for airborne environments Experience managing electronic system requirements and requirement verification Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900 Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
