Summer Camp Counselor

Summer Camp Counselor “Oh! I was having so much fun that I forgot that I got paid to do this!” is the most common response that we get from staff after we give them their first paycheck.
What makes this job such a joy? * Going to work on a 66-acre, mountaintop campus that feels like you're out of the city * Low camper to staff ratio allows you to get to know the campers well * Spending your day in a beautiful and comfortably heated pool * Mentoring children through play, which means you get to do the fun activities too Other perks! * A shorter work day than most summer day camps: 8:15am-3:45pm * A shorter time commitment than most summer day camps: 8 weeks total from 6/17/24-8/9/24 * Great pay: $18/hour * Campus that is centrally located between the city & the valley near the Skirball museum off of Mulholland * Campus that is private, gated & provides plenty of parking for all staff * Indoor, air-conditioned classrooms available for breaks About us * Since 1945 we have been dedicated to providing a space where staff and campers can experience outdoor adventures with friends and great activities * Our staff is positive, fun and loves mentoring children through play * We are committed to being clear communicators & avoiding negative talk * Our leadership team is involved & loves mentoring & supporting their staff Job Requirements * Must be at least 18 years old by 6/13/24 * Must be available to do in-person training 6/13/24-6/15/24 * Must be able and interested to spend the majority of the day in the pool * Must be able and interested to play and teach basic sport-based activities * Available to work between 6/17/2024-8/9/2024 (no camp on July 4th & 5th); a position may be available with a later start date or early end date * Must have housing in Los Angeles, we are a day camp and don't provide housing * Experience working with children preferred Please note that we follow all up-to-date health guidelines as set by the LA Department of Health and the CDC.
