1966 Buick 425 Nailhead Rochester Quadrajet intake manifold.
(312-2)
Boy, here’s something you don’t see every day.
It’s a last year (1966) Nailhead, first year (1966) Quadrajet intake manifold.
These ain’t growing on trees.
These were rare even back then.
I think only the ’66 Riviera 425 had them.
It will work on the 401, also.
In teeny tiny print of the 2-page Skylark GS car magazine print ad from back then, there is a photo of this intake and a short blurb of the optional 340 horsepower engine available at extra cost.
It also mentions the Olds type rear sway bar in the very same ad.
How cool!
In 40 plus years of collecting Buicks I have only seen 2 of these in person in my life.
Both were in the junkyard, and I still own both of them.
Now, one is for sale.
Of the zillion Nailheads I have seen over 40 years, ALL had a 2 barrel or the Carter AFB, and the really earlier ones had a Rochester 4GC from the early 1950s.
If you run a big 800 or 850 CFM Edelbrock Q-jet style carb, this is most likely the best performing Nailhead intake of all time.
That’s my opinion.
I usually sandblast and paint these things with VHT engine paint, but this one I did not.
Half of the guys out there want Buick green, and the other half want red, so I’m going to let the buyer decide and do whatever they want.
You’re welcome.
Luckily, three of the brass fittings are still there, as is the stainless gasket thingee, and all 4 of the factory mounting bolts.
So is the dash pot.
Yay.
