Trojan Storage is currently seeking an Expense Analyst to join its growing team.
About the Company Trojan Storage (“the Company”) is a national owner, operator, and developer of self-storage facilities headquartered in El Segundo, CA.
The Company was founded in 2007 by USC colleagues with the purpose of acquiring and repositioning underperforming self-storage assets.
In 2018, Trojan experienced a highly successful liquidity event that significantly improved the trajectory of Trojan, giving us the capacity, balance sheet, track record and access to grow at a far faster pace without sacrificing culture and philosophy.
Since the sale, the Company has acquired and developed 20 self-storage facilities with approximately 2 million square feet located throughout California, Oregon, Washington, and Illinois.
These existing facilities have an estimated market value of +$750 million.
Further, the Company is continuing its rapid growth with an additional 12 ground-up-development projects concentrated along the West and East Coasts.
In addition to the owned portfolio of assets and land, the Company third-party manages 1.
3 million square feet.
An accelerated growth phase is anticipated over the foreseeable future due to a strong pipeline of new projects and a well-capitalized balance sheet.
The Company’s team is seeking to build one of the largest class A self-storage portfolios in the US.
About the Position The Expense Analyst will report to the Corporate Relations Manager of the Company.
The Expense Analyst is primarily responsible for aggregating expenses, analyzing financial data, and providing valuable insights and recommendations to optimize spending and improve overall financial efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and concise manner.
Responsibilities Expense Aggregation Gather, compile, and organize expense data from various sources including financial reports, invoices, receipts, and other relevant documents.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of expense records by conducting regular audits and reconciliations.
Data Analysis Analyze expense data using statistical methods, financial modeling, and data visualization techniques to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
Evaluate spending patterns and variances against budget forecasts and historical data to assess financial performance.
Expense Optimization: Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand spending needs and objectives.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvements, and efficiency enhancements based on data analysis and industry best practices.
Develop and present actionable recommendations to management to optimize spending while maintaining operational effectiveness.
Reporting & Presentations Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations summarizing expense analysis findings, key insights, and recommendations.
Communicate complex financial concepts and findings in a clear and understandable manner to non-financial stakeholders.
Proactively identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the development and implementation of new tools, methodologies, and strategies to enhance expense analysis capabilities.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 Years of experience with Microsoft Excel.
Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis tools (e.
g.
, Excel, SQL, Tableau), and ERP systems (e.
g.
, SAP, Oracle).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw actionable insights.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
