Job Description:
Responsible for the planning, layout, setup, operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of conventional or automatic machines including Haas 3 axis CNC mill, manual Lathe, Power Brake, Shear, Bridgeport Mill, Drill Press, Vertical/Horizontal/Circular Band Saw.
Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.
Checks and inspects and builds machining operations against specified tolerances.
Day to day work may include fabrication of parts with sheet metal operations and assembling hardware per drawing.
Technician is responsible for performing diversified testing operations and making necessary repairs or modifications on a wide variety of prototypes and production parts, sub-assemblies, and components.
Position requires the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
Essential Functions:
The CNC Machinist will be performing set ups, tooling adjustments and changeovers, as well as running and operating Haas 3 axis vertical mills.
Produces machined parts utilizing programs to create, download and edit, set up and operate a Haas CNC vertical mill while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment.
Plans machining by studying detailed/complex blueprints and work orders, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Downloads/edits programs by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
Calculates requirements; including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs including calculating RPM and feed rates.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first run part and sample work pieces.
Independently sets up, programs, and machines parts to drawing specifications, with the skill to help others with set-up and operation of equipment and procedures as needed.
Follows directions as noted on the Job Traveler.
Maintains proper housekeeping around shop and HAAS CNC Machining Center.
Set-ups and/or operates variety of other machine tools such as Haas 3 axis CNC Mills and Lathe, manual lathes, manual mills, drill press, brake, and shear.
Completes all work within allocated hours per task.
Establishes and maintains successful relations with Engineering management and Planning departments.
Identifies and finds solutions to machining problems and procedures and conducts preventive maintenance.

Follows appropriate test equipment / safety procedures.
Identifies ways to improve current production processes and communicate ideas with appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
College level training or coursework in CNC programming utilizing GibbsCAM and CNC machining required.
Must have 3 Axis Machining experience on Haas CNC with a minimum of 3 years of experience operation Haas CNC machining centers.
Sheet metal and fabrication experience required.
Must be able to program, read, write, check, and make edits and additions to CNC programs with GibbsCAM Software.
Must have working knowledge of G & M code, and conversational programming, require fluent knowledge of the HAAS control panel.
Must have ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Additional Skills:
5S and Lean manufacturing knowledge is a plus.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $39,000 - $73,000.
