Drum legend Russ Kunkel is a member of the infamous A-List studio crew "The Section" and his own band "Immediate Family" (Lee Sklar, Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel).
Russ played this drum for many many years when he was with Yamaha, before he jumped to DW.
Russ Kunkel has either toured, done session work, produced and/or written hit songs with the likes of Steve Winwood, Linda Ronstadt, Dan Fogelberg, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Joe Walsh, James Taylor, Carole King, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, Stevie Nicks, Simon & Garfunkel, Aaron Neville, The Bee Gees, Reba McIntyre, Kenny Rogers, Wynonna, Lyle Lovett and Jimmy Buffett, among others.
This Noble & Cooley really has a special *crack* yet retains a very sensitive response when required.
It almost appears the original Evans Calftone head is still on the drum.
The head has some age separation but sounds amazing.
He probably didn't change it because it sounds so damn good! The Heavy Duty Yamaha Power Hoops give this drum a huge and controlled powerful sound.
Definitely a drum that made history with so many artists and now it can be yours.

By placing the lug post at the nodal point of the shell’s natural wavelength, they ensure that the intrinsic tone-creating vibration is unaffected by the mass of the lug.
Instead of all drumhead sounds, the shell itself adds to the ultimate tone of the drum.
The snare system includes the snares, the throw-off, and the snare beds, and comes with Noble & Cooley patented cam action snare wires designed to allow tight tensioning without choking the bottom.
These vibrate beautifully at medium and loose tensions and can be tuned up or down as needed.
Their brass throw-off is smooth and simple, allowing the snare wires to be engaged or disengaged easily.
Their bearing edges are lathed to create maximum resonance and projection.
True to 1/10,000th of an inch, their artfully customized drums have hand-cut bearing edges that are checked twice on a machinist's grade granite flat, ensuring consistent pitch.
