CALL OR TXT ONLY - NO EMAILS PLEASE RARE 1997 7 PIECE YAMAHA 30th ANNIVERSARY MAPLE CUSTOM DRUM SET IN GOLD SPARKLE LACQUER COMPLETE – PLUS 22X16 GREEN SPARKLE LACQUER ADDED KICK, SAME YEAR, MODEL - EXCELLENT CONDITION Right off the 1997 Yamaha Drum Catalog cover(pictured last), and produced in a very limited run for 1997 ONLY - I daresay you will not find another of these in better condition anywhere, if you can find one for sale at all Bought new*, practiced on briefly, then stored for 22 years in an open basement in Oakland by the first owner, I am the second - few imperfections of any kind exist – a very close look at some lugs show almost imperceptible weathering from sea air, all have been polished painstakingly, badges are perfect - the entire kit is in fabulous condition, PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS - somebody asked for some closer ups, so I've added a few(9/10/2023), and a couple of Oakland shots from the original owner's post(notice all original heads still on in Dec '19) for GP - but they still really don't do it justice Gold Sparkle drums include 20x16 10 Ply Bass Drum, 8x6, 10x8, 12x8, 14x12, 16x14 7 Ply Toms, and matching 7 Ply 5.
5x14 Snare Drum - plus bonus 22x16 10 Ply Green Sparkle Bass Drum - the 22(also EXCELLENT cond.
, added recently) has a cracked batter side hoop from transit, repaired by Stan at Pro Drum - the steel bracket is now at the pedal toe clamp location, invisible when set up and solid as a rock - regarding performance/aesthetics respectively, alternatively, the 22 adds another major sound dimension of course, and I think the green accentuates the gold up top nicely, especially under lights - if you don't agree, you can always turn it over Both bass drums include the 30thAnniversary logo heads, the 20 is scratched superficially, the 22 has a porthole, and additional resonant heads – current batter heads are used but viable Attack TB single ply toms top, original Yamaha bottoms, P3 Clears on bass drums - in fact all original heads for all drums top and bottom are included, except possibly the snare Cymbals included are a fine 22" Paiste Signature Light Ride, 14" Paiste Signature Medium Light Hats, and 17" Paiste Signature Fast Crash - that one’s a bit stick scuffed, but no damage – these were sold originally with the set All Yamaha mounting hardware and stands shown in the photos - except what's listed below - are included, note the doubled up double tom holders floor tom stand, enabling more right side cymbal setup variables - plus the original Yamaha Hi Hat stand, snare stand, foot pedal and great throne that all came with the kit – Road Runner Touring Bags in new condition for all drums also included NOT INCLUDED in the sale are any of the DW 5000 pedals or the WolfPak Drum Rug, the far left free standing cymbal boom and cymbal on the catalog cover(over the floor toms), any other cymbals not listed above or hardware outside the kit that might be shown in the photos, the vintage Yamaha Red Line snare stand shown, the Yamaha Click Station mounted on mike stand, mike stand, cables, Yamaha electronic drum pad and tom arm, music stands, sheet music, wall hangings, signs, etc… *As a side note – when I bought the set complete, from the obviously well heeled, member of upper crust Oakland society original owner, I was told that this set was played on a couple of occasions - Bay Area jazz fest or related gigs - by the great Elvin Jones in 1997, then turned in to the music store where the owner purchased it in 1998 - lock, stock and barrel - for his kids, who quickly lost interest, then stored away - I have no proof or documentation to that effect, but considering the owner’s apparent legitimacy, the fact that Elvin was a longtime Yamaha endorser and this was their new 30th Anniversary model in what appears to be Elvin’s finish, the high end cymbals and configuration, and the Bay Area background/connection, I believe it’s entirely possible - that's the reason I saved all the original heads 4500.
