Job Description The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC) is looking for an Instructional Lead for our middle school campus (grades 6-8).
This candidate will have experience coaching and leading instructional teams at the middle school level, and knowledge of dual immersion programs, universal design, and project-based learning strategies.
This position will report to MLC’s Principal and collaborate with a dynamic team of educators and leaders in support of teacher excellence and student achievement.
Following are Key Areas of Responsibility: Assessment & Testing The Instructional Lead oversees the preparation, scheduling, implementation, and analysis of internal and state testing programs by: leading teachers and staff in the analysis student data to drive instruction.
communicating data trends and schoolwide outcomes with families.
organizing celebrations of student achievement and improvements.
collaborating with leadership team on presentations of data during charter oversight and renewal.
enforcing standards for assessment and grading policies.
Academic Achievement The Instructional Lead leads a data-driven approach to elevate student achievement in the coaching and development of teachers including the following: supporting teachers in their development and implementation of rigorous instructional plans that meet MLC’s objectives for Universal Design, Project Based Learning, Academic and Social Justice Standards.
coaching teachers weekly through observation, feedback, modeling, and co-teaching in areas of need and to meet growth targets.
ensuring high levels of student engagement and opportunities to develop creative and critical thinking skills.
designing and implementing opportunities for student exhibition and performance of knowledge and skills.
upholding standards for dual language instruction in middle school grades.
Culture, Joy, and Creating a Place of Belonging The Instructional Lead collaborates with Dean of Culture to create a school environment that celebrates diversity, inclusivity and belonging by: co-facilitating school assemblies and scheduling of guest speakers with Dean of Culture.
displaying artifacts of student learning in the hallways and through exhibitions.
supporting teachers in implementation of behavioral supports and expectations as needed.
teaching a Leadership Course and working with students to create and implement school-wide initiatives and activities.
Operations The Instructional Lead provides guidance to administrative and instructional support staff in collaboration with Dean of Culture including the following: supervising the front office staff to ensure operations are running smoothly and in support of instructional program and daily operations of the campus.
supervising and training paraprofessional staff to provide instructional support in the classrooms and in support of universal design strategies.
collaborating with Dean of Culture to create schedules, dual-purpose training and evaluation of paraprofessional and office Staff.
collaborating on development of daily schedules.
Family Engagement The Instructional Lead will create opportunities for families to engage with the school community and interact with student products of learning by: collaborating with MLC Parent Educators to identify parent workshops and informational sessions on various topics.
collaborating with staff on monthly newsletter posting on ParentSquare.
participating in parent focus groups.
inviting parents to school-wide events and student exhibitions overseeing parent-teacher conferences.
establishing guidelines for parent communication and monitoring teacher posts on ParentSquare.
Special Education and Intervention The Instructional Lead will collaborate with Director of Student Services and Special Education Team on the scheduling and coordination of IEP meetings and support of staff meeting the needs of students with disabilities by: monitoring special education student growth and achievement by ensuring accurate data is collected, monitored and responded to.
analyzing and creating success plans for students with IEP’s, 504s and SST’s.
creating specific growth plans with teachers in regard to students with IEP’s, 504’s, and SST’s.
setting up systems in place to provide interventions to bridge gaps.
collaborating with community organizations and resources to provide additional supports and opportunities for students.
Expanded Learning Programs The Instructional Lead will provide feedback to Expanded Learning partners on educational programming and alignment with the school day by: collaborating with Expanded Learning partner on the implementation of high quality educational and enrichment activities that align with MLC’s program.
ensuring smooth transitions between regular school day and extended day activities.
supervising MLC staff providing academic support during expanded learning programs.
Qualifications California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Bilingual Authorization Fluency in both English and Spanish and academic level vocabulary and syntax expertise in both languages Five or more years of mentorship and academic coaching experience Professional development facilitation Collaborative leadership Program implementation and oversight Supervisory skills Additional Information Benefits: Salary Range: $85,000- $95,000 depending on experience.
