*The Team Member we are searching for* The ideal Physical Education (PE) Assistant believes in, and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success.
Under the supervision of the Physical Education Teacher, this team member is responsible for human support and paraprofessional work assisting the physical education activities and assisting students to reinforce material already presented through special efforts and repetitions.
*_What you will need to accomplish:_* * Encourage safety habits at work and organize game activities * Alert the teacher of the special needs of individual students * Provide escort and assistance to students as needed * Help maintain individual records for each student * Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior * Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities * Assist in the maintenance and storage of equipment * Set up equipment for class * Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct * Help maintain order in the classroom; monitor students to keep them on tasks * Perform other duties as assigned *_What do we require from you?_* *Minimum Qualifications* Education: * Enrolled in college or possess a Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred Experience: * Some experience working with students * General knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in physical education teaching *Skills and Abilities* * Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook * Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) * Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity * Able to maintain confidential files and information and to compile reports * Able to deal effectively with students and teachers * Ability to operate physical education equipment * Must be flexible and team-oriented * Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment * Bilingual in Spanish preferred * Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work * Regular attendance, dependability and, punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds.
To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below.
Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
