Description:
Overall Responsibility
Receives patients, collects required records/payments, answers questions, and provides directions.
Serves as liaison between patients and therapy staff.
Understands services provided by individual clinicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Greet, check in and check out patients
Schedule new and follow up therapy appointments; check demographics and insurance coverage of existing patients
Explain policies to patients (EOB, late charge, collection charges)
Prepare appropriate paperwork for new patients (progress reports, discharges)
Create referral for each patient
Prepare claim data
Review claim data for accuracy before sending to the Business Office
Obtain authorizations as needed for eligible patients
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients with private insurance
Answer phones/ check messages
Obtain and fax information to the Business Office upon request
Collect deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance
Prepare deposit
Count petty cash, as applicable
Score functional scales
Call New Patients and Re-Evals
Create accounts for new patients
Add labs, as needed
Respond to posting issues

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and twelve to eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
