Job Description:
The Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer can expect to work within customer specifications to design various size positioners and antenna systems.
Also, this engineer will be responsible for performing mechanical analysis of the systems being designed.
Essential Functions:
Performs mechanical and dimensional analysis of the systems designed.
Primary area of expertise shall be in the design of rotating mechanisms and packaging of electro-mechanical, electrical, and microwave components.
Documents design, detail, and manufacturing of finished products.
Presents mechanical design and status information to management and customers.
Design, analysis, and documentation of moving and rotating machine design components along with traditional structural analysis and FEA analysis is required.
Follows progression of projects from concept through design and detail of fabrication, and assembly drawings to manufacturing, and assembly of the finished products.
Supports writing proposals for any antenna procurements to customer requirement specifications, provides supporting analysis, and presents the resulting data and design at customer reviews.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Proven CAD experience, particularly in Solidworks/PDM.
Proficiency in ASME Y14.
5M-1994 and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
Ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to articulate issues, problems, and results impacting project data accuracy and reliability.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Ability to analyze mechanical structures, gear trains, bearings, and composite structures is required.
Must be able to follow project from concept through design, detail, and manufacturing of finished products.
Proposal writing to customer requirement specifications is required.
Analysis experience in ANSYS Mechanical, Solidworks Flow and Solidworks Simulation
CAD experience in Creo and AutoCAD
Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.
