The Field Technician plays a key role in delivering in-person customer service.
This position involves a comprehensive range of IT tasks including implementing, maintaining, and resolving technical issues, as well as supporting and optimizing workstation and server hardware, software, network equipment, cloud migration, and connectivity for our clients.
A customer-centric approach, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a proactive attitude toward client needs are essential.
*Key Responsibilities:* Manage and resolve issues through our ticketing system, ensuring efficient configuration, implementation, monitoring, and support of client IT environments.
This includes: * Windows workstations and server hardware and operating systems.
* Anti-virus/malware software, including remediation strategies.
*Email systems (Office 365, Exchange) and SPAM filtering solutions.
* * Network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, access points).
* Backup systems and data recovery processes.
* Expertise in cloud migration and assisting clients in transitioning to cloud-based solutions and managing related challenges.
* Administration of user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
* Vendor management support.
* Detailed documentation of client environments and issue resolutions.
* Adherence to Service Level Agreements for all customers.
* Setup, deployment, and replacement of Windows desktops, laptops, and server hardware.
* Installation and support of Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and other applications.
* Configuration of network equipment and wireless access points.
* Support for server virtualization technologies like Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare.
* Mentoring and coaching of junior staff members.
*Experience and Qualifications:* * More than 5 years of hands-on experience in PC hardware, Windows OS, server hardware, and networking equipment.
* Previous experience in working with 3rd party vendors.
* A college diploma or university degree in computer science is preferred.
* Relevant industry certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, etc.
) are advantageous.
* Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
* Goal-oriented, organized team player.
* Up-to-date knowledge of new systems, information, software, and upgrades.
* The ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment.
*Interpersonal Skills:* Onsite Technician must be customer service focused.
As this position involves direct interaction with clients, it is crucial to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to articulate complex technical information in an accessible, user-friendly manner is essential, as is the capacity to engage effectively with technical colleagues.
A collaborative approach in working with peers to troubleshoot and devise optimal solutions for client needs is fundamental to this role.
*Work Conditions:* This role involves significant local travel, with approximately 90% of time allocated to on-site client engagements, necessitating a clean driving record.
While after-hours work is minimal, availability for on-call support as needed is essential.
The position demands the physical ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
Additionally, it requires the capability to lift and transport moderately heavy items, such as computer equipment and peripherals.
Occasionally, the job may involve climbing ladders or operating in confined spaces like under desks or in data closets.
