Since we first opened our doors in 2003, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Conejo Valley has grown to become one of the largest in Southern California.
Our clubs provide a safe place to play, laugh, discover, and learn for youth in grades K-8.
Caring, trained staff and volunteers work with our members in supervised, safe, and structured environments to build new skills and help them succeed.
What does a Youth Development Professional do? They play an important role in connecting all youth to opportunities and help youth discover their abilities and interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES Supportive Environment Creation: Assist in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children and youth attending Boys & Girls Clubs programs.
Supervision and Guidance: Provide supervision, guidance, and positive reinforcement to children and youth participating in club activities, ensuring their well-being, and promoting positive behavior.
Activity Planning and Implementation: Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, programs, and projects that align with the mission and goals of Boys & Girls Clubs, fostering educational, recreational, and social development.
Engagement and Participation: Encourage active engagement and participation among club members, facilitating opportunities for learning, exploration, and skill development in areas such as arts and crafts, sports, STEM, and character development.
Behavior Management: Utilize effective behavior management techniques to address challenges and promote a positive and respectful atmosphere within the club environment.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with fellow staff members, volunteers, and community partners to coordinate activities, share resources, and communicate effectively about program logistics and participant needs.
Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model for club members and staff demonstrating integrity, empathy, respect, and responsibility in interactions and behaviors.
Safety and Emergency Response: Maintain awareness of safety protocols and emergency procedures, promptly addressing any safety concerns or incidents that arise during club activities.
Professional Development: Participate in training sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities provided by Boys & Girls Clubs, seeking to enhance skills, knowledge, and effectiveness in working with children and youth.
Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document attendance, incidents, and observations as required by club policies and procedures, contributing to program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
Community Engagement: Engage with families, caregivers, and community stakeholders to build positive relationships and support the holistic development of club members both inside and outside the club setting.
Adaptability and Flexibility: Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to the evolving needs and dynamics of the club environment, adjusting programming and approaches as necessary to meet the needs of diverse populations and changing circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS In-depth understanding of youth development principles, especially in elementary/middle school settings.
Proficiency in conducting and managing group activities for children.
Demonstrated ability in behavioral management techniques for children.
Sustained passion for the organization's mission and goals.
Practical knowledge and application of engagement strategies suitable for children.
Consistently exhibits reliability, flexibility, and serves as a positive role model.
Participates actively in comprehensive onboarding and training programs.
Open to coaching and committed to ongoing learning and development.
Minimum of 3 year of experience working with children in group settings SKILLS and ABILITIES· Team Building (Able to convince members to work toward a common goal)· Decision making (Able to formulate sound approaches to problems using the available information)· Motivational (Able to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
