*POSITION TITLE: *Assistant Payroll Accountant *PAY STATUS: *Non-exempt *SUPERVISES:* N/A *PAY RANGE: *$45,000- $60,000 *General Responsibility:* The Assistant Payroll Accountant plays a crucial role in the financial operations of our construction company by assisting in the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees.
This position is responsible for supporting the Payroll Accountant and ensuring that all payroll-related tasks are executed efficiently and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
*Significant Duties:* 1.
Payroll Processing: · Assist in the preparation and processing of the company's payroll, including regular and overtime hours, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
· Ensure accurate data entry and record-keeping of employee information, hours worked, and other payroll-related details.
· Collaborate with HR and other departments to verify and update employee data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
2.
Tax Compliance: · Assist in calculating and withholding the appropriate federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
· Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
· Generate and distribute annual W-2 and 1099 forms to employees and contractors.
3.
Timekeeping and Reporting: · Maintain accurate records of employee attendance, leaves, and time off.
· Prepare and distribute regular payroll reports to management and other relevant stakeholders.
· Assist in generating ad-hoc payroll reports as needed.
4.
Benefit Administration: · Collaborate with HR to administer employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
· Calculate and process benefit-related contributions and deductions accurately.
5.
Compliance and Record-Keeping: · Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations.
· Maintain and organize payroll records in compliance with legal requirements.
· Assist with payroll audits as necessary.
6.
Communication: · Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, deductions, and tax issues.
· Foster clear communication and collaboration with other departments to resolve any payroll-related issues.
*Requirements/Qualifications:* * A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
* Previous experience in payroll processing, accounting, or finance is a plus.
* Knowledge of payroll software and systems is advantageous.
* Understanding of relevant tax laws and regulations.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $45,000.
