Job Summary
The Director of Club Accounting position is a recognized Department Head in the Club, responsible for the accounting department.
The Director of Club Accounting has the primary responsibility at the Club for monitoring internal controls and protecting the Club from inappropriate use or loss of assets.
Day-to-Day
Performs as a member of the Senior Staff and Management Team of the Club and be the resource for advice and counsel on the financial, member and employee aspects of each and every individual department within the Club
Maintains, reviews and presents accounts receivable and membership information using independent judgment and discretion in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Prepares managerial reports regarding the Club's financial condition, analyzes the reports and presents the results to the General Manager and Department Heads.
The Director of Club Accounting makes recommendations to the General Manager and Department Heads based on these reports that is relied upon when making decisions with regards to the Club's financial condition.
Collaborates with the General Manager and other Department Heads in making proper financial assessments and applications of the budget and forecast
Handles and resolves (which may include using the authority to expel or suspend a Member) Member complaints and issues having to do with billing, collections, payments and other problems
Processing Member Initiation Deposits and Fees, including the proper completion of all Membership documents (including financing documents) and proper recording of the transaction exercising discretion and independent judgment according to GAAP (including decisions regarding whether the revenue can be amortized and recognized as income),
Performing a self-audit of accounting and club operations annually using independent judgment and discretion in accordance with GAAP, the Property's Internal Audit Department's requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements to ensure the club is operating at an adequate level indicative of adherence to GAAP, the Property's Accounting Policies and Procedures, and SOX.
Based on the audit, the Director of Club Accounting is responsible for implementing corrective action procedures to address any issues that arise.
Ensuring the proper processing of payments, exercising discretion and independent judgment according taxing regulations.
About You
2-3 years accounting experience or equivalent
College degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
Makes decisions that have a significant impact on the club's financial position.
Computer literacy required/Spreadsheet knowledge required.
Understanding of all computer applications to run a successful accounting department.
Salary $75k - $85k commensurate with experience.
